Chapter 1: The Parable of the Sower

Hello and welcome.

Today I want to share a parable from the Bible with you, and to dive into it as we explore the word of God.

It's the Parable of the Sower.

This parable is found in three of the four Gospels — Matthew, Mark, and Luke. I guess its that important that Christ included it thrice. It's just one of those interesting stories that Jesus so allegorically tells. it leaves you wanting to know what on earth is he really talking about.

We will look at it as it is written in Matthew 13:3–23.

We'll read the parable, think about what Jesus was saying, look at how he explained it to his disciples, do a little quiz and then head over to our discussion space to share our views. And yes - I'm really looking forward to hearing from you but there is absolutely no pressure.

Now you don't have to be a Bible scholar or a seminarian to be a part of this - for starters I'm not one. You also don't need to be a church member or a believer - all are welcome to participate. Our site is called Theologians for a reason. We truly believe that anyone who lands here and participates in our community is a theologian, not because he is has studied the Bible but by virtue of his participation. You see, the meaning of the word theology is really "God talk" literally, and this has been the domain of people all over the world and not just an informed few. So we are reclaiming this word and applying it to each of us. We're all theologians - here to explore the Word of God.
